A NOTE FROM PACIFIC COUNCIL PRESIDENT AND CEO DR. JERROLD GREEN

BY JERROLD D. GREEN

As a uniquely challenging 2020 comes to a close, the Pacific Council has successfully kept our members engaged around countless global issues, including the ongoing global pandemic, the triumph of democracy after a troubled presidential election, U.S.-China relations, the struggle for racial equity and justice, a changing Middle East, and the sustainable development goals, just to cite a few. To aid us in continuing to inform you and our member community, I am writing to ask you to make an end-of-year donation to the Pacific Council in support of our work together. We rely on the generous support of our members to highlight the bridge between global issues and local lives and do hope that we can count on your continuing support and engagement.

This is a critical time. Although the promise of a vaccine is within reach, rampant COVID and social isolation continue unabated. We are maintaining our virtual relationship with you while carefully beginning to plan for a post-vaccine future, anticipating a hybrid approach with both in-person and virtual events. At some point, we will return to our downtown Los Angeles office, and we are already exploring cautiously reinstating our travel program, starting with dispatching a future delegation to New Zealand, which has a great deal to teach us about pandemic response. We realize that none of this will happen tomorrow or even the day after. Still, while these activities are not imminent, our hope is to align our planning with the roll-out of a global vaccine and execute when it is safe to do so.

As we slowly move beyond the limitations of the pandemic era, we will continue to be here for you, our member community. You, along with our staff and our Board of Directors, make the Pacific Council the special organization it has become in this, our 25th year.

We hope you will support this planning and the promise of moving beyond Zoom and back into a more comprehensive membership experience. You may submit a donation online at pacificcouncil.org/donate.

As we slowly move beyond the limitations of the pandemic era, we will continue to be here for you, our member community. For example, as President-elect Biden assembles his leadership team, we are delighted to be connected to most of the senior appointments he has made. We continue to partner with peer organizations around the globe and remain committed to bringing Los Angeles to the world, and the world to our community, as our emphasis on local-to-global connectivity continues.

I want to conclude by sending my personal thanks for your support. Your annual contributions sustain our efforts to promote global engagement and we are most grateful. You, along with our staff and our Board of Directors, make the Pacific Council the special organization it has become in this, our 25th year.

Thank you for considering us in your end-of-year giving. I wish you and your family the very best for a healthy and happy holiday season.
